Ohio Family Discipleship Day is a ministry of the Craig Family. Family Discipleship Day came out of a desire to encourage other families to “not be weary in well-doing.” Building on previous FDD events, our desire is to create an annual tradition of bringing Christian families together that desire to please the Lord and build each other up.
George and Laura Craig have eleven children ages 12-27, four of whom are married. They live in southwestern Ohio and are passionate about many areas of life including music, homesteading and education. They have lived in Ohio since 2002.
Family Discipleship Day is a full-day event focused on inspiring dedication to God. Christian families need to be grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Therefore, we seek to assist families in developing inner strength for the tough times, creating fellowship opportunities with other believers, and building a vision of discipleship for the entire family.
The following Scripture passages serve as a Biblical foundation for family discipleship and provide guidance for what we do.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 [5] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. [6] And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. [8] And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. [9] And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Joshua 4:5-7 [5] And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel: [6] That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? Psalm 78:1-7 [1] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. Ephesians 4:29-32 [29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 6:1-4 [1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
